Search for a world before you know its seed
The Seed Finder works in the opposite direction from a seed map. Instead of entering a known seed, describe the kind of Java world you want and let the search collect seeds that meet those conditions.
Use it for practical combinations such as a Village near spawn, Cherry Grove within walking distance, several biomes close together, or a reasonably flat building area. Each result can be previewed before you copy the seed into Minecraft.

Build a useful search
- Choose the Java version that you will use to create new chunks.
- Start with a preset or add your own biome, structure, biome-variety, terrain-height, or flatness conditions.
- Choose whether the conditions should be measured from origin, estimated spawn, or custom X and Z coordinates.
- Select Find seeds and inspect the map preview for each result. Use Search more when the first group does not give you enough choices.
- Save promising results as favorites or open the full map before choosing the world you will play.
Keep conditions tied to a real plan
Every condition must match, so adding too many requirements can make a search unnecessarily slow or return nothing. Begin with the one feature that matters most, then add a second condition only when it rules out worlds you would not use.
A distance belongs to the condition beside it. A nearby biome and a nearby Village may sit on opposite sides of the search center. If the Village itself must be in a certain biome, use the biome choice inside that structure condition.
Terrain Height and Flatness are estimates sampled across an area. They are helpful for comparing candidates, but they cannot judge every cliff, tree, cave opening, or block where you may eventually build.
Choose the right center and distance
Origin (0, 0) is predictable and useful when exact coordinates matter. Estimated world spawn is closer to a normal survival start, but the final player spawn can move within the valid spawn area. Custom coordinates are useful when a server already has a hub or project location.
Small distances produce stricter results. Increase the range when travel is acceptable, and use the pair-distance option for a cluster when the selected structures must also be close to each other.
Compare results before copying a seed
A result card confirms that the sampled conditions matched. Move between results, open reported locations, and compare terrain around the search center rather than choosing only from the seed number.
Favorites are stored in this browser on this device. They are not an online account and will not follow you to another browser. Clearing site data can remove them.
Version and verification notes
The search currently covers the Java Overworld. Select the release that will generate the world; an old world upgraded over time may contain chunks from more than one generation version.
Biome conditions check samples at the selected spacing and Y level. A small patch between samples can be missed, and an underground biome may require another Y level. Structure results identify candidates whose final surroundings should still be checked in game.
Before starting a long-term world, open the result in the full map and verify the location that matters most in a Creative copy using the same Java version.
Seed Finder questions
- Do I need a seed before searching?
- No. The finder creates candidate seed numbers from the conditions you choose.
- Why did the search return no result?
- Remove one condition, reduce a required count, increase its distance, or use Search more. Very strict combinations can be rare.
- Can it search around spawn?
- Yes. Choose Estimated world spawn. Remember that Minecraft may place the player at another valid point within the spawn area.
- Does it support Bedrock?
- The current reverse search is for Java Edition. Use the Bedrock seed map when you already know a Bedrock seed.
- Does a matched seed guarantee every block?
- No. The conditions are sampled and some structures still depend on their surroundings. Verify the important result in the matching game version.
- Where are favorites kept?
- They are saved locally in this browser and can disappear if browser data is cleared.
- Can it search the Nether or End?
- Not in the current reverse search. Open a known seed in the full map to inspect those dimensions.
